SUMMARY:Goat Magic Book Launch Signing with Kate Wheeler
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the launch of Goat Magic\, an all ages graphic novel by Seattle-born writer and artist Katie Wheeler! Join the herd and witness the story of Trill\, a goat herder with countryside magic that city sorcerors laugh at\, and Alya\, a princess that was cursed into becoming a goat\, team up to break the curse and fight for peace in the kingdom of Capeya. It’s got magic\, adventure\, romance (yes this is a sapphic goat comic)\, and Big Goat Energy. \n\n\n\n\n\nKatie will be here signing her new graphic novel and chatting with folks from 6 to 8 on Thursday\, August 21st. We’ll have copies of Goat Magic available for purchase! \n\n\n\nAbout Kate Wheeler\n\n\n\nKate Wheeler is a queer\, Seattle-born cartoonist who traded Pacific Northwest rain for the charming canals of Amsterdam\, where she lives with her partner. Her work has been featured in The Washington Post\, NPR\, and The Nib\, among others. \n\n\n\nAbout Goat Magic\n\n\n\nTrill\, a spirited goat herder with a unique ability to communicate with her flock\, yearns for a life beyond mountain pastures. Her “goat magic” feels common compared to the sorcery taught in the city’s prestigious magic schools\, which are off-limits to her. Meanwhile\, Princess Alya\, known as the “Ordinary Princess” and heir to the kingdom of Capeya\, doubts her own royal potential. \n\n\n\nTheir worlds collide when an assassination attempt on the queen leaves Alya cursed to transform into a black goat each sunrise. Seeking refuge in Trill’s goat herd\, Alya discovers her new friend’s hidden talent is her only hope to break the spell. Together\, they embark on a perilous journey back to the castle\, facing treacherous foes and uncovering a web of betrayal and rebellion. \n\n\n\nAs Alya battles to reclaim her throne and restore order to Capeya\, the girls discover a deep connection\, their shared experiences forging an unbreakable bond. When Alya comes face to face with the ones who betrayed her\, will she have what it takes to take back the crown and rule an unstable kingdom? Will Trill find confidence in her magic and the growing affection she has for her friend?

At once gentle and piercing\, spare and profound\, her artistry breaks open hearts\, releasing rivers of love for what is—and grief for what is already lost.”  \n\n\n\n— NAOMI KLEIN\, New York Times bestselling author of Doppelganger

And that’s a problem. One of many she has\, actually. Parents that constantly fight\, her former best friend/current bully Viv Kinsley\, and the gorgeous new girl Kay Ardiger are causing a bit of stress. Brie used to hide from it all in her own worlds and stories\, but that seems so far away now. Until an unexpected encounter with a mischievous bookseller\, Ambrose Chance\, gives Brie the extraordinary ability to go beyond her problems in life and bury them deep into three new stories. Too bad the whole town of Holden had to get caught up in it too when her stories come to life. Now\, when the most important people in her life are stuck in fantastical tales\, Brie needs to save them by diving into her worlds and facing her worries head-on. Which would be fine…if only she was better at writing endings.
